The Germany Scholarship (Deutschlandstipendium) was set up to give companies, foundations and private individuals the opportunity to ensure continued academic excellence at TUM by supporting the most talented and committed students. You can sponsor an annual scholarship by donating EUR 1,800, and the German government will then match your contribution. This means that half of the total EUR 300 per month received by the scholarship student will come from private sponsors and the other half will be funded by the government. This initiative was raised by the German government in 2011. Since then more than 2500 scholarships have been given to students at TUM.

The Linde plc is funding fellowships for postgraduates at the new Munich Data Science Institute (MDSI) with 1.5 million Euros. Data Sciences have the potential to fundamentally change research and innovation. In concert with the volatile development of high-performance computing technologies, breathtaking advances in data analysis, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have triggered a paradigm shift in research by facilitating the convergence of theory and experimentation as the classical paths to cognitive insights. The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is consolidating its relevant expertise at the recently founded Munich Data Science Institute (MDSI) in order to use advanced theory and multidisciplinary, data-driven research to facilitate quantum leaps in innovation with major scientific, economic and societal significance. The scope of MDSI activities will cover TUM's wide spectrum of academic subjects, which is unique throughout Europe.

The Siemens AG is funding six new Hans Fischer Senior Fellowships at the Institute for Advanced Study (TUM-IAS) of the Technical University of Munich (TUM). The research awards for top international researchers focus on the fields of "Simulation and Digital Twin" and "Future of Autonomous Systems/Robotics". The Hans Fischer Senior Fellowships enable top international researchers to work on high-risk, future-oriented topics together with a corresponding research group at TUM. With its fellowship programme, TUM-IAS promotes cooperation between young and experienced scientists, between international research institutions, but also between universities and industry. Specialty chemicals company Clariant and the TUM signed an agreement covering the joint presentation of a new award: The "Dr. Karl Wamsler Innovation Award" will promote excellent performance in the field of ca-talysis, including bio-catalysis and White Biotechnology. The award was initiated by Clariant and is inspired by the memory of Dr. Karl Wamsler, who passed away on June 18, 2016. was one of the most important and formative figures in post-war German chemistry and a generous patron when it came to supporting science and the arts. The TÜV SÜD Foundation is providing fellowships for guest scientists from abroad at the TUM Institute for Advanced Study (TUM-IAS). The Fellowship will promote innovative and collaborative projects with TUM research groups. The TÜV SÜD Foundation has been supporting international networking between scientists at TUM for some years now. Through the Hans Fischer Senior Fellowship, the Foundation is signaling an even greater level of commitment and is also the first private partner to be involved in this project. The Centre is an independent, non-profit making limited company and an associated institute of the university. The BMW Group and the Technische Universität München are expanding their longstanding cooperation with a new building on the campus in Garching. BMW erected a new building for the TUM Institute for Advanced Study, which was first established in 2005. The institute will enable the creativity, inspiration and interaction of top scientists throughout the world, much like the IAS in Princeton where Albert Einstein researched. Leading international scientists have the opportunity to spend a few years in an ideal setting to conduct interdisciplinary research, free from teaching responsibilities.

The Johannes B. Ortner Foundation was founded in 2005 and promotes bachelor, master and doctoral thesis and professorial dissertations by young academics from the natural and technical sciences. The Johannes B. Ortner Prize is awarded to 6 or more outstanding young researchers and academics every year. Every prize winner receives 1000 Euro.

Funding period: since 2010 TU München and TÜV Süd are joining forces to entice highly respected specialists from the safety sector to join TUM on a temporary basis. Technische Universität München (TUM) is setting up a visiting professor program sponsored by the new TÜV SÜD Foundation. Internationally renowned academics will work at TUM for several months and hold interdisciplinary seminars or lectures revolving around topics connected with "Industry – Mobility – Mankind". The international program focuses on the fields of energy efficiency and climate protection, testing procedures, product and production plant safety, as well as risk and compliance management. It is hoped that advanced students and junior scientists will benefit most from the expertise passed on by the "TÜV SÜD Visiting Professors“.
The TUM School of Education was established in October 2009 as the first German teacher-training and educational research faculty. As part of a technical university and supervised by Pisa coordinator Prof. Dr. Manfred Prenzel, it concentrates on the socalled MINT subjects (Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Technology). Thanks to the excellent, practice-orientated curriculum it provides, the TUM School of Education will enable aspiring maths and science teachers to hold lessons based on state-of-the-art educational research to inspire pupils and kindle a fascination for their particular subject. The aim is to encourage more school-leavers to study one of the MINT subjects at university. This is the only way to ensure that there is a steady stream of urgently-needed junior scientists and engineers on the long-term job market. Incorporating education research will make it possible to continually expand the pool of expertise in this field and to qualify prospective grammar school and vocational school teachers accordingly. Thanks to a tightly-meshed cooperation network with schools and guidance provided by mentors with teaching or scientific experience, undergraduates are introduced to hands-on teaching practice from the first term onwards. There are currently about 150 doctoral candidates participating in the IGSSE's 35 interdisciplinary junior research groups who benefit from the synergy between the different approaches favoured by the respective research disciplines involved, ranging from Computational Engineering, Bio- and Medical Technology, Energy and Environment Technology, Nanotechnology and New Materials. It is precisely the melding of the classic disciplines that holds great potential for solving urgent issues concerning the future of mankind, such as tapping renewable energy, researching climate change or improving medical care. IGSSE graduates are given thorough training in preparation for the responsibilities they are likely to encounter in executive positions in international research and business. In addition to the intensive, autonomous work they devote to their thesis, the doctoral candidates also attend seminars and training sessions, where they can enhance their academic skills, perfect their writing and presentation techniques and develop their personality. Entrepreneurial skills are promoted in summer schools and business plan workshops. Measures are in place to tighten the conditions and cut doctoral studies down to 3-4 years, to enable these highly qualified individuals to finish their specialist training and launch themselves on the employment market sooner, having benefited from a more comprehensive education. Finding itself under pressure from increased international competition for the best talent, TUM intends to approach an even greater number of outstanding doctoral candidates in future and nurture them, particularly in those disciplines that have not been covered by the IGSSE so far. This scheme is to be financed with the help of additional funding from the worlds of business and society. MAN has set up a scholarship program to promote students of the Faculties of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. Up to 100 selected undergraduates receive a grant between 1000 and 3000 Euros per annum. As part of TUM's "Innovative Entrepreneurs" series of lectures, an initiative of the UnternehmerTUM GmbH entrepreneurial training scheme to be held during the winter term 2007/2008, top executives from the MAN Group will deal with major topics covering all aspects of the value-added chain in technology and growth-related companies.

When the ¡communicate! qualification program was set up, it was amid general awareness that, in view of the growing "economisation" of society, economic and organisational communications are acquiring greater significance and complexity. A critical public demands information based on transparency, truth and tangibility. As a result of these developments, companies and organisations are in the public eye, playing an increasingly important role in society and in particular in public opinion-forming processes. Only those organisations and corporations that manage to present transparent, efficient procedures to the general public while enhancing the quality of their external and internal communications succeed in creating the essential prerequisites to meet these elevated expectations. The program sets out to coordinate communications managers' leadership and communication skills and to master the exchange of know-how in research and practical usage. It was with this in mind that the integrated, all-embracing ¡communicate! qualification program was developed, addressing post-graduate, future and present communications managers and general managers with its further education and advanced training modules in the form of a one-year full-time program (MBA), summer school and executive training schemes.
